wtf? there is a god in my soup

“The U.N.’s top human rights body passed a resolution urging laws banning the criticism of religion.

Pakistan proposed the measure on behalf of all Muslim countries.”//CBN

“Forgive, O Lord, any little jokes on Thee, and I’ll forgive Thy great big one on me.” – Robert Frost

“This resolution makes it illegal in UN terms to criticise religion, or to criticise any specific religion, or to criticise the practices of that religion…The way to overcome religious discrimination and hatred is not to ban speech and criticism but to embrace it. Without open exchanges which encourage understanding, the defamation will only get worse..”//Bangkok Post

“Don’t pray in my school, and I won’t think in your church.”- anonymous

“The proposals by Islamic countries for an international ban on “defamation of religion”, which were to be discussed at an anti-racism conference in Geneva called Durban II organised by the United Nations Human Rights Council, have been dropped from the meeting’s draft declaration…But Roy Brown of the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU), who has done much to challenge and raise awareness of the draft document, said that although the new draft offers some protection to believers — paragraph 10 mentions only Christians, Muslims and Jews as being victims of “phobias” — it offers nothing to non-believers or apostates who are frequently under attack, especially in Muslim counties.“//

“Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.”

“Western governments and a broad alliance of activist groups have voiced dismay about the religious defamation text, which adds to recent efforts to broaden the concept of human rights to protect communities of believers rather than individuals.

Pakistan, speaking for the 56-nation Organisation of the Islamic Conference, said a “delicate balance” had to be struck between freedom of expression and respect for religions.”//irishtimes

“When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn’t work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.”

“The World Association of Newspapers and World Editors Forum have condemned a resolution approved by the United Nations Human Rights Council on “defamation of religion,” calling the measure an attack on the basic human right of freedom of expression.”//WAN

“The sponsors of this resolution have failed to understand that Freedom of Religion or Belief depends on Freedom of Expression. If the beliefs of one religion are to be deemed ‘defamation’ of another, society is on a very slippery slope” said Brown.//IHEU

Shit happens
Confucius says shit happens
If shit happens, it really isn’t shit
What is the sound of shit happening
This shit happened before and it will happen again and again
If shit happens, it is the will of Allah
If shit happens, you deserve it
Let shit happen to someone else
Why does this shit always happen to us?
Is this shit or isn’t it, I can’t tell for sure…
I don’t believe this shit
